The program continues to receive recognition for the services provided:



In 2005 Healthy Families was awarded a second statewide credential by Prevent Child Abuse America. The credential establishes that a program is operating in compliance with best practice standards. During the process peers conducting the review stated that the "Arizona program is the gem of the nation".





 On January 27th of 2005 Janet Napolitano, Governor of Arizona, proclaimed it as Healthy Families Arizona day as a result of her recognition that the program has provided quality services to the families of Arizona.




In January of 2005 the national organization "Zero to Three" highlighted Healthy Families Arizona as one of 3 model programs in an article about effective home visiting initiatives. The article outlined 4 policy recommendations that were generated by an advisory group of leading researchers and home visiting experts.



Healthy Families Arizona was the recipient of the HOPE for Arizona’s Children Prevention Award 2004 for recognition of outstanding efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.  This award is sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse, Inc.The presentation took place at the 15th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Conference held in January 2004.

Healthy Families Arizona is included on the Promoting the Well-Being of Infants, Toddlers, and Their Families' website of the National Center for Children in Poverty, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University.  the website is http://www.nccp.org/.  Healthy Families Arizona was selected as one of 25 programs through a national nomination process.  The Healthy Families Arizona Program was chosen for its noteworthy aspects related to serving the families who need the services, the use of standardized instrumentation to monitor child development, parental stressors, and coping skills, the centralized Training and Quality Assurance Team, and the extensive data tracking system to help ensure effectiveness and quality.




Healthy Families Arizona is included on the website www.pathwaystooutcomes.org/. This is the result of a two-year project of the Pathways Mapping Initiative of the Project on Effective Interventions at Harvard University.  This project identifies the actions that local communities can adopt to raise community rates of school readiness.  Healthy Families Arizona is included as an example of a program that helps achieve school readiness by taking actions that contribute to children developing on track, development of strong bonds with primary caretaker and supportive homes, and provides connections to responsive networks and services.  The program also is shown to achieve school readiness by tailoring service duration and intensity to individual needs and having the capacity for program monitoring and improvement.



 

Healthy Families Arizona is included in the Emerging Practices in the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect published in March 2003 by the Children’s Bureau’s Office on Child Abuse and Neglect (OCAN).  The publication presents the outcomes from a two-year project to identify programs and initiatives from across the nation for the prevention of child maltreatment.  Healthy Families Arizona is included in the Effective Programs Category as a Program with Noteworthy Aspects.  These noteworthy aspects are: 1) extra attention is paid to involve and retain fathers in the program, 2) an independent evaluation team is in place to evaluate program effectiveness, and 3) a Management Information System is in place for data tracking.  The website is http://www.calib.com/home.




Healthy Families Arizona is highlighted in the July/August 2002 issue of the Child Welfare League of America’s publication Children’s Voice, Vol.11, No. 4.  The Healthy Families Arizona Program is included in the “Research to Practice” article (pgs 20-22) as an emerging practice that is an evidence-based family strengthening program.  More information can be found on the website http://www.cwla.org/.
